Store

Stores represent energy storage systems where energy capacity (MWh) is the primary design constraint, rather than power capacity (MW). They model thermal storage tanks, gas storage facilities, and other large-scale energy storage where power transfer rates are not limiting.

A store is connected to exactly one bus and must have an assigned carrier (typically heat, gas, or hydrogen).

Store vs Storage Unit

Stores focus on energy capacity (e_nom, MWh) and don't have explicit power limits. Use Stores when energy capacity is primary (thermal storage, gas tanks). Use Storage Units when power capacity matters (batteries, pumped hydro with inverter/pump limits).

Attributes

Store components have two types of attributes:

  • Inputs - Parameters you set that define store characteristics
  • Outputs - Results calculated by the solver
