Storage Unit
Storage units represent energy storage technologies that can both charge (store energy) and discharge (generate power). They model batteries, pumped hydro storage, and other technologies with power capacity limits and state of charge tracking.
A storage unit is connected to exactly one bus and must have an assigned carrier. Unlike generators, storage units can have negative power (charging) and positive power (discharging).
Storage Unit vs Store
Storage units have two distinct capacities: power capacity (p_nom, MW) and energy capacity (p_nom x max_hours, MWh). Use Storage Units when power capacity is a key constraint (batteries, pumped hydro). Use Stores when energy capacity is important for your problem (thermal storage, gas tanks).
