Generator

Generators represent power generation units in the energy system, including conventional thermal plants, renewable generators, and dispatchable assets. They inject power into buses and can be optimized for both operational dispatch and capacity expansion planning.

A generator is connected to exactly one bus and must have an assigned carrier (e.g., coal, gas, wind, solar) that defines its energy source type.

Note that in Convexity, generators can be static or time-varying.

Attributes

Generator components have two types of attributes:

  • Inputs - Parameters you set that define generator characteristics and constraints
  • Outputs - Results calculated by the solver
